Crazy Summer

Rick and I have had a crazy summer that boils down to:

Rick attending summer school and working in a reasearch lab at ASU.

Rick has been applying for dental schools.

Christie's Aunt Julie graduating from University of Phoenix. We are so proud of her and her hard work!

Christie hurting her knee. We are not quite sure what happend....

The air conditioning in Christie's car going out (not a good thing to happen in July in Arizona)!

The transmission going out in Rick's truck.

The air conditioning in Rick's truck going out (and of course this happened on the hottest day of the summer, July 4th) and continually having problems, we just got it out of the shop again and hopefully it will now stay out of the shop.

Christie's brother Jeff getting married to Camille Packer. (This also includes Rick going to the beach for the first time since we have been married. We're not sure how come it took 3 years to get him to the beach, but he loved it!)

Christie's cousin being diagnosed with cancer.

Christie and her Aunt Julie going to San Diego to visit her mom and sister for a "Girl's Weekend".

Rick's brother Steven getting married to Amand Terrill.

Going to Christie's brother's reception and open house in Newport Beach and San Diego. (Yes, Rick made it to the beach again!)

The air conditioning going out in Christie's car (yes, again!) and the driver's side window breaking on the same day.

Going to a Diamondbacks vs. Cubs game with Christie's co-workers and their spouses. The game was a lot of fun, getting up the 25 rows to our seats was not so much fun. Diamondbacks won!

Christie going through a week of physical therapy and then having surgery on her knee. (The hurt knee caused quite a long summer! Rick has had to drive her to and from work everyday, and everywhere in between.)

Who knows what else I am forgetting, but needless to say we have been very busy. We really enjoyed all the time we got to spend with family though, and loved seeing everyone again.

Mormon Football Plays

In honor of the beginning of football season...

Quarterback Sneak - Church members quietly leaving during meeting.
Draw Play - What the kids do with the program during Sacrament.
Half-time - Sunday School
Bench warmer - Those members who do not sing, pray, participate, or apparently do anything but just sit and warm the bench.
Backfield-in-Motion - People in the back of the Chapel going to the rest-room or water fountain during the meeting.
Staying in the Pocket - What happens to a lot of tithing that should have been paid three weeks ago.
Two-minute Warning - The point at which the concluding speaker says, "In conclusion, I would like to bear my testimony" and you start to gather up your children and belongings.
Instant Replay - The speaker loses his notes and falls back on repeating what he just said.
Sudden Death - What happens to the attention span of the congregation if the meeting goes into "overtime!".
Trap - You're called on to pray while you're dozing.
End Run - Getting out of church quick, before you have to speak to that long winded gossip.
Halfback Option - The decision of 50% of the congregation to skip Sunday School.
Sacked - Being asked to speak in Sacrament meeting before you can escape.
Blitz - The rush for the parking lot following the closing prayer on Fast Sunday.

Three Years!

We just celebrated our third anniversary on August 14th and it was so nice to take the day to reflect on how grateful I am for the wonderful husband that I have. He is the greatest blessing in my life! Love you honey!

I just bought tickets for the So You Think You Can Dance tour! We are going to go watch this show in LA with some of my family over the Thanksgiving holiday. (Does this tell you how addicted I am?) It is still forever away but I am so excited. Go Sabra!
